Tom and Carl listed the Hillsboro Mall in 2004 and among other forms of advertising, sent 2,000 post cards to investors in their database. The buyer did come from the post card mailing and showed up at their office with the Post Card in hand! Hillsboro Mall at that time was an older, 51,000 SF retail center with an attached mini-mall. The buyer saw the value in location, near Tuality Hospital in Hillsboro, Oregon and proceeded to purchase the property for nearly $5 million (full asking price) and demolished the mini-mall and built a mixed-use office/retail building and leased it out to various medical and retail tenants.
