Tom Hanacek serves as a Senior Advisor for Sperry Van Ness. With over 23 years of experience in the commercial real estate industry, Tom specializes in the
sale and leasing of retail centers and office properties throughout the Pacific Northwest.
Prior to joining Sperry Van Ness, Tom served as a broker and partner of Hanacek & Company, LLC, and has combined efforts with his father, Carl Hanacek, to date, include nearly 400 transactions valued at over $257 million. In 2005 and 2006, Tom earned the Sperry Van Ness Achiever’s Award in recognition of his accomplishments as one of the top producers at Sperry Van Ness.
Attesting to his ability in the commercial real estate industry, Tom has been involved in several key transactions throughout his career, including the sale of a large commercial site in Lincoln City, Oregon, which led to the development of Oregon's first factory outlet shopping center. In addition, Tom has been involved with nearly 1.5 million square feet of shopping center development through the sale of large parcels of commercial land and/or through contract leasing services. Over the past several years, Tom has been involved in the sale of One Airport Center, an $11 million-class A office building located at the Portland International Airport, Martinazzi Commons, a retail center in Tualatin, Oregon and the sale of fourteen acres of commercial land in Fairview, Oregon at a price of $5.7 million, just to name a few. He also has served as a tenant representative for Pendleton Woolen Mills, Adidas America, Coldwater Creek, Cutter & Buck and Tree of Life Christian Outlets with regard to their factory outlet store expansion, nationwide.
Prior to becoming a broker, Tom earned his bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington. In addition, he has spent hundreds of hours over the past 23 years earning continuing education credit hours in real estate.
Tom spends his spare time as a volunteer Head Coach in the Lincoln Youth Football association while also serving on their Board of Director as President. In addition, he was involved in the formation of Lincoln Junior Baseball and served on the Board of Directors for that organization as well.
Tom and his wife, Liz, have also served at their church as Sunday
School teachers and volunteers in such programs as the Harvest Festival, an outreach program for young children and in the annual Holiday Food & Toy Program.
Off the field and out of the office, Tom enjoys playing golf with his son Thomas, snowboarding/skiing with his son Matthew or just hanging out with his wife, Liz, at home. Tom is a currently a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), Westhills Racquet & Fitness Club, Sunset Presbyterian Church and is a licensed broker in the State of Oregon.
